Below is a description of this day. Feel free to visit them at http://www.powmiaff.org/blackout.html, for more information.

The POW/MIA Freedom Fighters were the first ones that started the POW/MIA Freedom Fighters Internet Blackout 8 years ago (and will be 9 years as of February 1, 2007.) There are very few left from when I started so long ago. We all know who those folks are that won't give up. That are doing this work for the true reason. That stay on when the work gets hard. There is no paycheck at the end of the day, week, month. Most of our costs comes out of our own pockets. Why do we do it? Because we love this country we live in and we honor those men and women that fought and continue to fight for this country and we honor them by staying on the job to make sure they come home and their families get answers! That is why we are here. We don't want the public to forget. That is also why we run projects like the POW/MIA Freedom Fighters Internet Blackout Day. We hope you will join us in remembering and honoring them by blacking out your site in silence so all can remember and not forget.

Membership in the Sons of The American Legion

Different people have different reasons for belonging to organizations. For many, membership in the Sons has allowed them to become involved in American Legion programs alongside their fathers. Others belong out of respect for their Parents' and grandparents' service to our country in the military. Many younger members get involved and learn valuable leadership skills involving organization, public speaking, negotiating, budgeting and fundraising skills. Membership in our organization also provides individuals with opportunities to forge lifelong friendships with people who share a common bond.
